Both the island and the mainland had surprisingly very little damage after Florence. But surrounding inland communities, and some beaches and towns north of us, have had flooding and run-off issues.  Below were the various updates during the storm.

Update Sept 25, 2018: The island and beaches and town are all open to the public as of September 20. As of Sept 24, a all curfews are lifted/gone. Miraculously, no damage to bridges, utilities, very minor damage to a few houses, and no major flooding inside Sunset Beach! The major highways TO the beach are open too. Many other nearby towns and beaches did not fare as well as Sunset Beach NC did and we send our support, donations, love, and compassion.

Update Sept 19, 2018:  all power and water are restored to island and mainland of Sunset Beach, NC. No damage to bridges, and no major flooding inside Sunset Beach.  We are grateful to our First Responders and the power linemen who got us back online!  For public safety before all residents return, curfew still occurs from 11pm to sunrise. More posts to follow this one….
