The Sunset Beach Business & Merchants Association is pleased to have hosted the first Sunset Beach Paddle Fest on October 31, 2015 at the Sunset Beach Town Park and IntraCoastal Waterway!

The festival had broad appeal to families and individuals alike, offering a mix of adult and children activities, including kayak and paddleboard races, activities, food, vendors and live entertainment.

The Sunset Beach Paddle Fest kicked-off with a series of morning kayak and paddleboard races appropriate for both serious and amateur racers, a short fun paddle for amateurs and a quirky Costume Kayak Sprint in which racer winners will be judged on finishing place and costume.

The children activities included Halloween themed games provided by local businesses, Kids’ Costume Parade and a Pumpkin Carving Contest complete with prizes and photo opportunities for participants. Another highlight was the Pie Baking Contest with pie slices sold at the conclusion of the contest to benefit local charities.

Vendor booths were a part of the festival, as well as a Southeastern style BBQ, hot dogs and a Beer Garden provided by Check 6 Brewery, offered several microbrew selections.

Live music was provided by budding country star Whitney Layne from 12-3p.m. and local favorite Ashton Stanley. The stage area will be located at the waterfront side of the park and tables and chairs will be placed in that area so attendees can enjoy their food and beverages comfortably while enjoying the music and the view.
